Yesterday was Nikko’s first adoption day. We can’t believe it is already an year since the little guy came into our lives, and , that he is almost 3 years old! Nikko is getting a new happy hut and we all had loads of cinnamon coffee cake last night.

Do I look like I am 3?
And tomorrow is Amy’s adoption day too! She already got a whole bunch of new toys, including, of course, a tennis ball. She has been going crazy with all the new toys to play with.

Wanna come and play?
The biggest news of all is about Pepper. We have now officially adopted Pepper! She acts like she knows it too
Overall, we need to have a big adoption day bash here.

What took you guys so long?

We visited the Chippewa County Humane Association on Thursday and were helped by two high schoolers, in handling the animals and getting more info about them. Not only were they sooo helpful to us, they even petted Amy, which is like icing on the cake for her, after playing with the dogs. It was pouring when we went there too, and we spent all our time indoors. We visited with fewer dogs, but spent more time playing with them. Amy getting attention from Gina and Derek. Gina has been working / volunteering at this HA for the past five years and Derek, the last one and half years. They are adorable!

When we visited, Gibby’s adoption was pending. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier mix, about an year old. He had a slight limp in his right hand, which was probably broken, but had healed quite well. He had come in as a stray, but has now found a wonderful home. He was full of energy initially, sat down when asked and took treats from my hand.

Amy and Gibby hit it off right away, reminding me of Amy playing with Sephora! And no wonder that these two got tired pretty soon, and also added to it, that Amy had visited with about 15 dogs already and was exhausted from the excitement and playing. He was the last dog for the day and we all had such a great time at the ECCHA.

Derby is a three year old, male, lab mix, who was a stray before coming to the ECCHA. He is one of the most docile dogs we met there, who was every content to get some attention, treats and ear scratches. He gave little attention to Amy - just checked her out and ignored her! He seemed to be more of a pack-driven dog, with humans. He also knew the door, but was not willful about going out - just gave us this ‘please’ look and soon gave it up.

Buck is a one year old Lab-shepherd mix, who found his way to ECCHA, as a stray. He has been in the humane association for about 15 days. He is a big friendly doggie, who knows to open doors with a pull down handle. From the second he entered the room, he had eyes only for Amy and just wanted to play. We let them both off - leash and both of them had a great time.

Izzie, one of the smartest dogs we met, is a Labrador -chow -unknown mix. She is a three year old female, who came to the humane association as a stray. She has been at ECCHA for four weeks now. She very much reminded us of the time when we first met Amy. Polite - alert -friendly and obedient. She knew the way out and willed for the door to open. Here she is, eying Amy for a play session.

The moment I took a treat out, she sat for it, took it gently from me and gave me a big hi-5 after eating. She is an energetic ball of happiness.

Travis is a Labrador retriever, and a big guy. He came as a stray to the ECCHA and has been there for three weeks. Initially Amy was a little intimidated by his size, but soon found him friendly, as he wanted to lick her and us too! Though he is in need of some training, most of it due to ‘Travis’ not being the name his parents called him, and he hasn’t learned to respond to it yet, he is so full of personality. He is a big ball of fun

Travis also knew where the back door to the outside was and asked to step outside for a break! He didn’t want to spend any time in the rain and turned his attention back to us.
