The second day Amy was in CA, we took her to the beach. It was Amy’s first trip to the ocean or any big water body for that matter. We did not know how well she will like water! Boy we were in for a shock!

Somewhere in between Utah & Arizona, by a place called Vegas, things got too hot to handle in the car. Amy was huffing and puffing with the Sun glaring through the windows in the car. Even though the heat was not bad, compared to the snow we just experienced the past few days it was hot. Amy came to Mommy’s lap to ride in the shade for a while until the Sun eventually caught up!

Utah finally lead to better weather and for the first time we were able to see the color of the ground. Amy enjoyed the travel quite a bit. We took scenic bypass route on our way to the Arches National Park. We went through some of the desolate parts of continental US. Amy enjoyed the scenery as much as we did!

Being in WI and having got Amy after winter started, we did not know how she will act when she sees water. This was her first encounter with water. The place was in Utah and Amy was excited to see water. We were still skeptical and did not allow her to go inside the river, however she did get to wet her feet. Little did we know then that she LOVES water and would do anything to take a dip on a warm Summer day!

All the way through Colorado the weather did not improve at all. In fact, at one point of time the weather was so bad we had to take a break for the night. The next day improved slightly and we were moving away from the Rockies which helped a little. We did not venture too much away from the car, so Amy was happy whenever she got breaks.

The weather was really terrible when we started from Owen. The night was a snow storm, however we had to stick to our schedule to undertake this long trip. The next day was slightly better, but not too much. We stopped in a rest area in Iowa for our break. All around us there was snow and the trees had turned into icicles.

Having been inside the car all day, Amy was happy to finally go out, stretch and have some fun. Having lived in WI, snow did not daunt her!
