Bringing more joy to our lives

Amy went over the Rainbow November 3, 2011

Filed under: Pets — Bala @ 4:36 pm

After a brief struggle with renal failure from Lyme’s disease, we sent Amy over the rainbow this afternoon. She is one of the best things that ever happened to us. She was happy till her last minute. We miss our big baby girl!

Another Adoption Day! September 29, 2008

Today is Amy’s second Adoption Day. Its been two years since she has been with us and has hardly been away from me. In the last couple of years, she has traveled to 17 states with us, moved from Wisconsin to California with me and back. She has made some great friends, enabled us to make friends, and is a great spokesperson for adopted dogs. She has helped raise more than $250 for the Eau Claire Humane Association. There are no words to descibe the joy we have with her in the family.

Today, we went out for a long walk in the neighborhood and her treats included an awesome omelette. We are still waiting to go shopping for her presents!

We have moved, again September 4, 2008

We are now in Oshkosh, WI !!!! Amy and I have moved to Oshkosh for my new position at the Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh campus, where I am teaching Ecology & Evolution and Population & Community Ecology. Though it is difficult to be away from Shankar and the birdies, we are looking to have a good time here.

We have a small studio above a house and our landlord has a golden retriever – Molly. His girlfriend who lives next door has another Golden Retriever – Lucky. Amy and Lucky have hit it off right away and can’t wait to play with each other all the time. We have also started going on regular walks in the neighborhood. Dogs are not allowed in the city parks, one of which is a block from home ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But the Winnebago county park, a few miles away has a huge dog play area and we went there once and needless to say – Amy had a gala time. She is still getting used to being at home when I am at work. We are both looking forward to going home (Owen) tomorrow!

Being a Nuisance August 20, 2008

This is another category for the PAWLYMPICS, in which we are not participating, but posting pictures of Amy for fun here. We were actually hard pressed to find pictures of Amy being a nuisance. She is usually very good and you can always get her to go to her bed when you don’t want her around.

When we were visiting some friends in Minneapolis, we played cricket in the backyard. Amy believes that all balls are made for the pleasure of her playing with them, and thought that the game was that all of us are throwing and hitting the ball for her to get it!

Trying out as a fielder

The only question was when Amy catches the ball, is the player who hit it, out (of the game) ?

Lenny, from Wire Wise is hosting PAWLYMPICS, an olympics for doggies. We really wanted to participate in the events, but couldn’t pull all the snaps together before the deadline. Anyways, we still want to showcase what we would have submitted for the events.

Here is a couple for the Stick Your Tongue Event from Amy. Please do check out Lenny’s site for some wonderful doggie talent.
